Loei, Thailand – Students undergoing their internship program at Loei Wangsai School have actively participated and contributed to various school events aiming to hone students’ skills and enrich their experience. Their presence helps in the teaching-learning process and increase passion and creativity to every activity. These activities were held from 10 to 19 July 2024
The first activity the interns participated in was an outdoor activity that focused on tie-dying by the students. This activity was designed to develop the student’s artistic skills and creativity while giving them hands-on experience in creating something unique and aesthetically pleasing. Umsida’s internship student played an active role in guiding and assisting the students in the tie-dyeing process to ensure that this activity ran smoothly and was fun.
The next event they participated in was an outdoor activity held at Ban Loeitadnonpattana School. This event was made even more special as it was attended by various students from schools in Phuluang district. Of course, Loei Wangsai School also participated in this activity, bringing the spirit of cooperation and friendship. Dr. Wanida, as supervisor of the internship program, was also present to provide moral support and guidance to the students and interns.
The theme of this activity at Ban Loeitadnonpattana School was “Soft Skill to Soft Power”, which focused on developing non-academic skills that are important for students’ personal and social development. One of the highlights of the event was measuring the temperature of the river, where students were taught basic scientific techniques that are useful in everyday life. Rishma, who is Umsida’s internship student and as a chaperone from Loei Wangsai School, actively participated in this activity and helped the students understand the process and its importance.
In addition to outdoor activities, the interns also assisted Loei Wangsai School students in competitions held to commemorate Thai Language Day. The competition aimed to increase the students’ appreciation and ability in the Thai language. The presence of the interns provided moral support to the students and helped them prepare well for the competition. This not only strengthened the relationship between the students and the mentors, but also motivated the students to perform better.
The last event the interns participated in was the Buddhist Lent Day and Asarnha bucha celebrations. These celebrations are an important part of the local culture and tradition. Although Rishma was only an observer, her presence in this activity was a form of tolerance and respect for the local culture. Through this observation, Rishma and other interns gained a deeper understanding of the values and cultural practices of the people of Loei.
The active participation of interns in various activities at Loei Wangsai School not only enriches their experience, but also makes a positive contribution to the development of students’ skills and education. Their involvement in these activities demonstrates their commitment and dedication to the teaching and learning process and to the success of their internship program. With these valuable experiences, it is hoped that the interns will be able to bring back useful knowledge and skills for their future while leaving a positive footprint in the school community in which they serve.
