lkui.umsida.ac.id – Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international networks. On Tuesday, (17/06/2025), Umsida officially signed an international cooperation document in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Implementation Agreement (IA) with Parallaxnet, a technology company from California, United States.
The signing took place at the KH Ahmad Dahlan Auditorium before the start of the International Guest Lecture which presented Parallaxnet CEO, Mr. Mazhar Durrani as the main speaker. This momentum is not only a space for sharing global entrepreneurial inspiration, but also marks the start of strategic cooperation between higher education institutions and the international technology industry.
In his remarks, the Rector of Umsida, Dr. Hidayatulloh M.Si, introduced the campus profile to Parallaxnet. “Umsida is one of 14 Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities in Indonesia that are accredited as superior. We are the 11th superior university,” he explained in front of the invited guests.

Furthermore, he said that Umsida’s identity cannot be separated from the values of the Muhammadiyah Association which are the main foundation of the campus in moving and developing. “Umsida, he added, not only has the tagline ‘Dari Sini Pencerahan Bersemi’, but also ‘Maju Bersama Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah’.”
The collaboration with Parallaxnet is considered as part of Muhammadiyah’s efforts to continue to contribute to the nation and the international world. “In this context, it is imperative for Muhammadiyah, including Umsida, to continue to develop a network of collaboration with various parties, both domestically and internationally,” he added.
The cooperation agreement that was signed is not only symbolic, but includes concrete steps such as organizing technology training, providing scholarships, and relevant international certification for students, lecturers, and education staff. “This international program certificate can be used as a diploma supplement and can be proof of competence,” said Dr. Hidayatulloh.
This collaboration involves all faculties in the three Umsida campuses, namely the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Faculty of Business, Law, and Social Sciences (FBHIS), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), and Faculty of Psychology and Education (FPIP). Currently, Umsida has a total of 32 study programs and more than 11,000 active students.
The Rector of Umsida expressed his appreciation for the presence and commitment of the CEO of Parallaxnet in supporting the development of human resources in Indonesia, especially in the campus environment. “On behalf of the Umsida leadership, we would like to thank Mr. Mazhar. Hopefully he will always be given health so that he can continue to share the best practices carved for the younger generation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mazhar Durrani explained his reasons for choosing Indonesia, and especially Umsida, as a partner for cooperation. According to him, Indonesia is a country that is very memorable both personally and professionally. “First, he said that Indonesian food is very diverse and has a delicious taste.”

In addition to culinary, Indonesia’s cultural diversity is also a special attraction for him. “Second, Indonesia is a country rich in culture. Because in his home country, almost no one pays attention to their own culture, they are only busy with individual interests.”
No less important, he admitted that the religious conditions in Indonesia helped him understand Islam more deeply. “And finally, Mr. Mazhar admitted that Indonesia is a country with a majority of peaceful Muslims so he learned a lot more about Islam.”
With this collaboration, Umsida hopes to be able to organize various academic and non-academic programs that have a positive impact on the academic community and the wider community. The guest lecture agenda with Mr. Mazhar also became the opening of various upcoming collaborations between Umsida and Parallaxnet.
